Michael DeMeng ARTFEST

I am so happy with this little still life I made...I went on a Spring house cleaning bing...and made all new still lives around my house...I love how nostalgic and romantic it is.

While I was at Artfest I took a wonderful class with Michael DeMeng......I saved the piece and gave to my husband for his Birthday.

I think it was my favorite class......I bought this wonderful frame that had a clock inside of the it. I it reminded me of a Picasso and the early 1920's era in Spain...John thinks the shapes look like tuning keys. I also brought a little frame that I bought at a thrift store. So many magical things happen at Artfest....I brought this digital print of an old photo of Andrea Segovia when he was young. He is know as the father of the modern Classical guitar movement. A wonderful woman at the table in front of me had all these cool little bits and pieces of stuff...she so happened to have these tuning keys! Wow...perfect!!! And I was able to find this jade looking bead that I formed with a clay back onto the missing key...Michael showed us how to put paint on mica and make it look old... Out came this beautiful piece of Art...there were so many great other pieces of Art made in Michael's Class...it was the best! John loved he present...

A beautiful little vignette...sometimes just moving things we use all the time and changing the grouping makes a fresh new look.

I am totally awed by what you make in Michael DeMeng's class -- an original and meaningful gift for your husband's birthday!

This is awesome! Sorry I didn't respond sooner to your last comment...I changed my blog url address to www.dinaremi.typepad.com to make it less confusing for people to search and it ended up messing with my links and comments lol I would love to come see you play when you are in Carlsbad! And I'm still kicking myself for not singing up for Suzi's class...it looks like they had so much fun! I hope all is well....I enjoy your blog very much!

I love how you went around and rearranged your still lifes. I love to do that also!

My idol, artist and writer Rebecca Purcell calls such a still life a "hoosh" and the act of creating a hoosh, is of course, hooshing.

This picture is so beautiful! I just love the color-combination. I hope you work more in this technique, it would be so interesting to see what you come up with next :-)
Love both the still life and the DeMeng inspired piece. Btw, I waved for you at Cape Hatteras as we motored by. We could barely see the black/white lighthouse, which was pretty cool.

Enjoy AFF, I will miss this year since I'm doing the boat trip. Take care, Carla

Your vignette is beautiful. The piece you made in Michael DeMeng's class is amazing...one of the nicest pieces I have seen come from his classes.
I am looking forward to you visit to the east coast. xoxo
