Wednesday is Self Portrait Day with Misty Mawn(click)...I just found out so I put together this post today. The Portrait I have posted was drawn in 1972 at age 20 while in Art School.

Girl in the Video Frame

Last week I did my first Video Vlog....I mumbled on the audio so I took it off my Blog. But the first part was so Funny...I didn't know the camera was on so I was trying to get situated...so the song...is "I feel Blue"...you know how us girls are..gotta look just right for the camera! Now at 58 I have the chicken neck and jowls but I am a girl and want to look my best!

I love your work, just read all your stuff, wow......and your blog, meeting Jessie Reno and his studio, I would be so nervous. I did have a giggle at the video, and you do not look 58.

...well you realize I shall be waiting with baited breath for the "big Show"..now I have seen the concentrated preparations , the difficult facial angles, and the lipgloss that went into the making off it ... well I can hardly stand the wait ...

Don't you just hate how part of your face (and boobs) just seems to head towards your toes? Sad! Thanks for commenting on my blog. I love comments!

Hi Deirdra,
It is a pleasure to meet you. Thank you so much for all of your kind words. Your work is beautiful and I have really enjoyed my visit here!

Thank you for your question. I am actually working on my second book with North Light on the subject of digital art. My technique-based book will be published in April of 2010 -- stay tuned.

In terms of getting that ethereal look you talked about, there'll be plenty of stepped-out projects demonstrating that style.

Sorry to make you wait.

Hi Deirdra,
Your vlog, so funny, loved it!
No, no photoshop on my Awkward ballerina, just one of my drawings on some cool paper. I like how the spots on the paper look like shadows. That was a happy accident.
I would love to meet you too, I don't usually go to folk life, but I'll see if I can get anyvbody around here to go.
No, I haven't finished anymore dolls. I need to. Maybe I can do them for my 52 week project sometime.
I'm glad you posted, so I can add your blog to my list.

Thanks for connecting me to your husband's music -- I just ordered three CD's. I'm a happy camper and can't wait to get them in the mail so I can pop them in and play them.
What a fun vid !!!! That music was great....I loved all the squirming around to get the best seat.....too cute.

So when is the next one?????????? I'm waiting...

Thank you for the fun comments about my video on my blog...isn't it weird how that squrimming is funny....?? weird. My husband totally didn't get it but the women do..... the music is from " I Feel Blue" - Lakasha a Paris cafe CD called Café De Flore - Rendez-Vous À Saint-Germain-Des-Prés in Paris.

I need to have something to say...I did but since I mumbled I just cut out that part and kept the funny part and of course the music!

How long do you think your class on doll making will be? I would love to attend! You are the same age as I am. I was born in May.

Hi Deirdra- thanks for your kind comments. I really like your blog, and this drawing of you is beautiful! Artfest is filled with so many amazing people (like Lulu), it is hard to find time to know them all!! But what a great opportunity I am finding as I blog jump and link up with new artist friends with similar thoughts and ideas!!
