NIKKI NISSE CHRISTMAS (ELF)

Oh it is so fun to be working on Nikki Nisse my children's book. I needed to make some gifts for the Teesha Moore Christmas party and my friends Birthday. To get back into the mood of working on my book again I used Nikki as my model. I am so happy with this kind of painting. I have been fretting over how to render Nikki in color for my book. After the doll class I realized how much I enjoy using a black gesso. It gives me the winter look I want and helps me paint!!!

Now I am working in the living room. Cowboy (our friend who is the carpenter) finished my hearth in the studio and is now working on the Murphy bed....very soon.....
Here is my friends son Allen who modeled as Nikki for me last year. He is so big now.... a little man but we caught him last year just before ...What sweet dear eyes in the side view. Funny thing about Allen. He might be a distant cousin of mine...how you say???....his fathers family comes from the same town as mine in Denmark...go back far enough...really not that far and every one is related....;>}

Here he is saying "Happy Yule/Christmas...." Christmas in Danish.
Nisse is the Norwegian and Danish elf. Tomten is the Swedish Gnome/elf.

Hey Deirdra! I just sent a message to Rischa about the doll group. I am not sure she will get it since she is closing the group, so I will send her the same message on her blog just to make sure. I love the paintings. I have noticed how much easier it is to paint using black as my background which I learned from Jane. It seems like a reverse painting technique. I would love to know if your dolls sold at the art show. I finished one of my dolls and I am still working on my second one. If you get a chance, you can see her on my blog: www.theoldoakenbucket.blogspot.com

Hi Deirdra,
I haven't heard a thing either. Hey, I figure at least no news is good news. hee hee

I'm teaching that class in Wisconsin next year.( Dec. 1 post) Oh, I think it will be fun. You would make a darling one.

And I love the watercolors you've done (your avatar esp. but also the ones with the black lines) for your book. You are a terrific painter.

Thank you for the invitation. I'll see what I can arrange.
