Michael DeMeng ARTFEST

I am so happy with this little still life I made...I went on a Spring house cleaning bing...and made all new still lives around my house...I love how nostalgic and romantic it is.

While I was at Artfest I took a wonderful class with Michael DeMeng......I saved the piece and gave to my husband for his Birthday.

I think it was my favorite class......I bought this wonderful frame that had a clock inside of the it. I it reminded me of a Picasso and the early 1920's era in Spain...John thinks the shapes look like tuning keys. I also brought a little frame that I bought at a thrift store. So many magical things happen at Artfest....I brought this digital print of an old photo of Andrea Segovia when he was young. He is know as the father of the modern Classical guitar movement. A wonderful woman at the table in front of me had all these cool little bits and pieces of stuff...she so happened to have these tuning keys! Wow...perfect!!! And I was able to find this jade looking bead that I formed with a clay back onto the missing key...Michael showed us how to put paint on mica and make it look old... Out came this beautiful piece of Art...there were so many great other pieces of Art made in Michael's Class...it was the best! John loved he present...

ARTFIBERFEST "A DAY IN THE LIFE OF PRINCE BUG DUDE".

I just made a little Video with "Prince Bug Dude" one of the dolls I will be
teaching in June at Artfiberfest....please check him out. I had lots of fun
doing it...but drilling a hole in his head for the strings was a little
scary...I feel like Geppetto with Pinocchio!
Look forward to seeing you all there...and can't wait to take classe's with Ruth
Rae on Thurs and Mary Stanley on Friday.

I HAD SO MUCH FUN MAKING MY NEW PRINCE BUG DUDE INTO A PUPPET SO I COULD MAKE A MOVIE OF HIM. I USED THE MUSIC FROM A PROJECT JOHN AND I DID IN IRELAND AND USED A LITTLE OF THE FOOTAGE TAKEN IN IRELAND. I HOPE YOU ENJOY IT AND COME TAKE A CLASS WITH ME A

it is going to be so fun to make dolls together and stay at Reed college campus in Portland Oregon...just like summer camp but all about Art and fibers!!!

Class description
"Summer is a great time to come and dance through the flowers with me and this Sweet little "Princess Bug Doll".

In this class we will be making an easy and fun little fabric and paperclay doll. The combination of sculpting, painting, and sewing opens up endless possibilities for you to take with you when you leave this class. "

Last Saturday I taught a class at my studio to get ready for the Artfiberfest class in June.

I learned so much...I have been in my studio all week getting the class ready for June...I had to do a little of the sewing as the class really takes more like 2 days to complete a doll....I want everyone to have their doll ready for Sat. nights at Artfiberfest show and tell.

food dryer works great for drying dolls and big hair!!!
Lunch
Lulu got cold so I gave her my old fur coat to were...she is so elegant in her red shoes!
serious sewing...
making butterflies...
which eye do I choose? Getting ready for face painting demo...
serious costuming design going on...
yep...almost over....
pretty fairly doll...with her arms and legs pined on for a photo shoot...

I think Princess Bug Doll might be jealous when she sees this photo!
I painted the eyes on my students doll...she wanted them just right and she was tired..because .......
she went out of control.....students went hog wild as hair dressers...there will be none of that at Artfiberfest....we have to do simple hair like I did on Princess bug doll and Prince Bug Dude...then we can finish our dolls...this is for home doll making hair only....I REALLY want my students to be successful and finish there dolls... they will be so happy at show and tell!
my friend Dale....
this little cutie is going to be a present for her daughters birthday...to hang on the wall and admire!
Lulu, Robin, and Dale....Gay left early...
I hope I see you in June at
