VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS SHOW

It's Merry Christmas time. Every year my Christmas is about touring this wonderful show. A Victorian Christmas with John Doan. I love this photo. Each place we bring the set to has it's own special atmosphere...what a special way to Celebrate Christmas by giving this gift to people around the West Coast.

A moment between shows. We had an afternoon show. During the break we went to a little tea shop to look at Antiques. John was a little tired and we had a show in the evening yet to do. But it was so fun to both be in the Victorian Dress. I have long ago retired my dress because it is way to much work to manage that long skirt while breaking down the set. This was the first year that Florence Oregon a Beach town put on a Dickens Festival. They asked me to please wear a Victorian dress. It was nice to wear. The most interesting part of it was walking down the streets of Old Town Florence. As I walked it seemed like every man young and old who saw me could not help but tell me how lovely my dress was!!! It was so cute. Men love the look of Red and a feminine women dressed up...it was delightful...to ... be ... a ....Goode Ladye!
New Friends...I met these dear Ladye's at the Tea Room. We had a wonderful time talking, taking each others pictures and exchanging blogs....The Ladye Lydia in the pink pokadots is and author. Click here for her Blog "Nov 28 An Afternoon at Tea". She talks about our meeting. Her friend and now my is Ladye Lisa. She came to the concert in the evening an brought her family and darling son...

THANKGIVING

Blessings and Thanks for all the Goodness and Mercy that you, oh God have given to me, my family, my friends and our country. Thank you for all the Brave people, white, black, yellow and Red that have been a part making us a Nation.......Bless us in this time of transition and may we stand in your Truth. May healing and the divide be broken. Bring your light....Bring your reconciliation.

Movies are a place I go to meditate on truths I am dealing with. We saw "The Last of the Mohican's " last night to think about Thanksgiving and a part of our history as a nation. It was truly moving....the bravery, the covering of each other, the bitterness and revenge. But most of all for me as a women the idea of being Covered...loved..
Over the years in my healing of my heart I have transferred my need for a man to cover me to the Truth of only one man who could heal my deep broken heart....a heart that longs to be loved. Only the man Christ can go that deep inside of me to heal. This clip is only one of the stories that represents the depth of that kind of Love. There are several other characters and stories in this movie that show so beautifully the truth of that kind of covering love.....If you get a chance I would recommend the movie too you.
I love the song in this clip.

MODIGLIANI - WORDS

I Love Modigliani as most women did in his life time....
His paintings are so beautiful...he would sit and look at his models saying nothing and then he would paint their very souls...some people liked what he saw some stormed out because he saw the truth.
I saw a wonderful romantic and very sad movie on him from 2004. Then I went and read a book on his life called "Modigliani a life ".In the book were clues to how his life was cut so short.

I was so taken by his life and this poem came up in my heart...it was the only thing that silenced my heart that grieved for such a amazing man and his art....

Modigliani

Oh how you have Fallen Star of Delight

Deception & Death lured you into its dark corners

Angels of light Calling

Dark side of the Moon cold & unyielding

Luring you with promises

Sirens voices of Crystalline Lies

Oh the Beautiful Side of Evil, Foolish One

They have stolen your Gift

A Blessing to the world son of Abraham

Fallen in your Prime

Oh there is no Glory to your God

for it has been Wiped out by the Bitter Wormwood

Why did you not "Choose life"!

(Deut. 28 "Lach Heim!" "Choose Life" Jewish saying)

ART STUDIO DECORATING BEGINS

I started the process of moving into my Art Studio yesterday. This is a very special table that I got 25 years ago on my honey moon in Astoria Oregon. It has been white and in different places in my home. Today it comes back to it's original colors....a little shabbier for a nostalgic look.
So pretty...heat gun stripper and sander.....dark wood stain....Finally I will get a glass top to keep it safe and ease of clean up.
My first encaustic painting a few years ago....looks nice with the tables red legs.
I was fascinated by Nina Bagley's "Studio Tour" on her blog last Nov. she added branches and twinkle lights in her studio.....it was so magical......I will get more lights for my little tree...
See my wonderful new tables! Beautiful with their new tops.

But now I must get this mess into the studio in a nice way???? Old suit cases, baskets??? Wooden drawers...the hunt begins.
Cowboy our friend who built this room is coming back....so a bit of a mess again...he is going to make a proper hearth for the fire...
and make shelves in the closet that has mirror folding doors....and put in the Murphy bed......in the hole that is covered by the corrugated metal on the wall......soon and very soon I will have a studio......a little walk out side to breath....................
the ginko is turning yellow leaves and then very soon they all fall down in one DAY~~
Isn't this house pretty....it is in it's fall glory...do you recognize it from my Christmas video??? It is next door to my friends home.
Blessings my friends......

THE GIRLS ARE FINISHED!

My Dolls were so fussy about what dress they wanted to wear! (I made 3 skirts for 2 dolls, and one wanted to wear 2 skirts!!!!)

...the fussy girls were all worried about a party they were going to....it is a little art show "Something Red" I was putting them in and they had to have red as the featured color...I don't like red much!

Well I am finished making the first of my Dolls....what fun...See the wonderful red charm on the necklace? That is by Michelle Geller. She made it for a Valentine Charm swap I was in last year. Now it is featured in such a special way....

Jane DesRosier my teacher sent me a sweet email after I sent her these photo's. She is a great artist and wonderful teacher.....

"Hi Deidra,
Your dolls are so fabulous. And I can tell you are a real doll maker because you speak as if they have a mind of their own...Isn't that funny how we get like that?"

I am going to make more dolls and hope to put up an esty site with them soon. Let me know if you are interested in a doll..

The girls are at the Art Show office...I turned them in last minute yesterday. My friend and I were rushing around her house till 3:30 finishing our art projects so we could get them in by 4 pm. After we turned our art works in we went to our favorite gift stores for their Holiday Open house's. I was in such a jidder or "I was simply shattered" as the English would say. "The Arbor" had champagne so I who normally don't drink in an effort to calm down helped my self to 2 glasses...and it went to my head...causing me to have to go to the next shop "Ma Valise" and down as many cream puffs as I could get in my mouth to calm the buzz that came on! But if I had known that the "French Unicorn" store had a full spread of food I wouldn't have had to had so many cream puffs!
I had filmed the "French Unicorn" window last Christmas and put it in my "New Christmas Music - Song" youtube video. The owner looked at the youtube video while I was there and put the music on the speakers that played in the shop....Wow my first public performance...it was so fun to hear my voice all over one of my favorite stores!!!

Now after a pause and dreaming of Music stardom...............or at least that my song blesses many people at Christmas ......I come back down to my Dolls................

Let see.......we were talking about the "Something Red" art show in Salem Ore. They have it every year and it is so fun...it has become a Christmas Tradition........

So Last Dec. I won Best of Show!!! not sure how to top that...not that I was ever trying...well maybe a little bit.......

Anyway after so many years of helping my husband John Doan with his career in Music and building our home, raising a son...I am just so happy and blessed. I seem to be just trying to get a lot going in a short time...kind of like the creative dam broke and I am rushing down the stream paint brush in hand........

So please hope with me these sweet fussy little girls charm the judges socks off this year too...and that they sell....this years goal is to start selling my art...I want to help pay for my studio and supplies...my sweet husband has been paying the bills and now it is time for my work to pay for it's self......

...........by the way these Girls have sure Charmed me too!!!!

THANKGIVING BLESSED!

So much to be thankful for.........
The wood is in the shed..............
The leaves are golden floating one at a time past the windows..............
a carpet falling...............
Hydrangeas turning burgundy..........

Dogwoods burning red..............
into the woods.............
new red maple................
view from the top...............
down to the valley of Christmas trees.............
chair waiting............
Celtic monk inviting.................
Come into my world.................
This is a place called Rejuvenation's architectural salvage shop.........old Portland comes alive again, craftsman style homes of Portland Oregon need to be remade...a look I wanted for my new Art Studio........
Da da my Art Studio!!!! Not finished yet but almost..........I painted a river in the stained concrete floors for the guest bath............
the lighting is beautiful and the tables are from Aurora Mills Architectural Salvage....they came out of a hardware store in upstate NY old and full of stories..........the gas stove is in warm and inviting ........ hearth is waiting to be built.......
Danish modern Falcon chair from sweden 1960's...........
Oh more ideas............can't work in here yet........needed larger table tops ......gluing on leather looking linoleum called Marmoleum. It will be sided with stained wood. I got the idea while I was at Rejuvenation's. You can see the counters on the photo up above.

I have great sympathy for what it feels like to not have a art studio..... working on what ever corner or table you can find........ I can't move in just yet............I made art in the kitchen all last week..........

I love my kitchen and little table........I had art supplies on the table.....then the counter........then on the desk in the living room....on the floor............on the dinning table................
Pushing a side art materials..........laying down a dinner mat.........fed my husband soup.
little sneak peek...................a project I was working on.
I submitted two class to teach at Art & Soul Portland 2009..........drove them up to Glenny's house on the due date last Sat.....with Lulu Moon.....(Glenny is the head of Art & Soul) Glenny gasped when she saw them. I think she really liked them, she smiled. This week a committee is judging the projects.........pray with me that I get to teach my classes.......then I will show you the whole project, promise. They came out so, so, so beautiful. I even did the happy dance when I saw how pretty they were...an answer to my prayer. The dance had a clap pattern and a little stomp. It is fun to thank God with your body.
Company coming ..........so the art room moved into my bedroom..............(little light on wall is from Venice Italy)

My bedroom reminds me of Venice, my favorite place.
and more................

Now she is making dolls................So much to be thankful for.................!!!!!!!!!
